ePipe 629 - Hardwood Vape Pipes and Spares
The ePipe 629 is a hardwood electronic pipe built to the proportions of a traditional briar - turned from genuine rosewood or ebony, hand-polished, with a removable 18350 battery in the bowl and a refillable quartz-glass tank rather than a proprietary cartridge.
Availability: the 629 kits have sold through and the model is being retired. Its successor, the ePipe 659, is in production now - see the e-pipe category page for what changes.

The 629 ran through several revisions over the years, and knowing which one you own determines which parts fit. Check the bowl and the tank:- 629 X2 - the most recent generation. Rosewood (2019) and Ebony (2021) kits. Takes the X2 mesh coil.
- 629 X - earlier generation with the Zirconia crystal LED cap, sold with the Liquamizer MOD tank.
- 629 R2 / R3 - earlier still. Solid wood bowl with automatic airflow sensor and removable 18350 battery.
All generations share the 510 threading and the 18350 removable battery format, so batteries and chargers are interchangeable across the range. Tanks and coils are not - see the next answer.

Three coil types have been used across the 629 range, and they are not interchangeable. Match the coil to your tank, not to the pipe body:- 629 X2 Mesh Coil, 5-pack - $19.95 - the current coil. CONFIRM: fits 629 X2 tanks (2019 rosewood and 2021 ebony kits).
- 629X 1.0 ohm Atomizer, 5-pack - $17.95 - CONFIRM: fits 629X sub-ohm tanks.
- 1.5 ohm ceramic-base atomizer - CONFIRM: fits the earlier Liquamizer MOD tank only.
Coils are consumables. How long one lasts depends on the e-liquid and how hot you run it, but a burnt or muted flavour that does not clear after a refill means it is time to change. Buying in 5-packs works out cheaper than singles.

Coils use Kanthal wire on a ceramic base with a dual-chamber design. The 629 is a refillable tank system, not a cartridge device - you fill it from a bottle, so there is no proprietary cartridge to be discontinued out from under you.

The 629 runs on a removable 18350 rechargeable lithium battery - $14.95. It can be charged either in the bowl or removed and charged on its own, which is why keeping a spare is worth it: one charges while the other is in use.The ePuffer 629/605 X universal charger has LED charge indication and a built-in fuse for short-circuit protection, and carries a one-year manufacturer warranty.
Because the 629 uses 510 threading, the bowl also works with variable-wattage mod batteries - the ePuffer X-Pro at 3.5-3.7V and 6.0-7.0W, the Phantom HD3, and other 510-thread variable mods. Useful if you want more control over the draw than the standard bowl gives.
Battery safety: do not carry a loose 18350 in a pocket with keys or coins, replace any battery with a torn or damaged wrap, and recycle spent cells at a battery drop-off rather than in household waste.

Churchwarden compatibility on the 629 is not universal. The later batch of 629 X3 tanks is not Churchwarden compatible. Earlier tanks are. If you are buying a Churchwarden stem for a 629, check with us first with your tank details.The ePipe 659, currently in production, resolves this - full Churchwarden mouthpiece compatibility across the range, plus manual button firing with LED indication rather than draw activation alone.
The 629 is being retired as a kit, but this page and our spares line are staying. Coils, batteries, tanks and stems continue to be stocked for existing 629 owners. We have supported e-pipe customers since 2007 and a model changeover does not end that.

Work through these in order. Most cases are one of the first three.- Battery charge. Remove the 18350 and charge it fully. A cell that will not hold charge needs replacing - they do not last forever.
- Coil. If flavour went muted or burnt before output dropped, the coil is spent. Fit a fresh one and prime it: add a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the wick and let it sit five minutes before firing.
- Threading contact. Unscrew the tank from the bowl, wipe both contacts clean with a dry cloth, and reseat. E-liquid seepage onto the contact is a common cause and looks worse than it is.
- E-liquid level. Firing a dry or near-dry tank burns the coil quickly. Keep it above the coil intake ports.
- Airflow. Check the draw path is clear through the stem and mouthpiece. A cotton bud through the stem clears most blockages.
If none of that fixes it, contact us with your model and roughly when you bought it. Rechargeable ePuffer products carry a one-year limited warranty on manufacturing defects, and outside warranty we can usually identify which part has failed and whether it is worth replacing.
