A cigalike is an e-cigarette built to the size, weight and shape of a traditional cigarette - roughly 75 to 100mm long, with a soft filter-style tip and an LED end that glows when you draw. The name is short for "cigarette-like".
It is the original e-cigarette format and the one most modern devices have moved away from. Today's market is dominated by pod systems and box mods: larger, heavier, and shaped nothing like a cigarette. For someone switching from smoking who wants the same object in their hand and the same draw, that is a significant change to adapt to.
ePuffer has built cigalikes since 2007 and still does. Every cigalike has three parts:
- The mouthpiece or cartridge - holds the e-liquid
- The atomizer - heats the e-liquid into vapour
- The battery - powers it, rechargeable on our SNAPS kits
On our disposable e-cigarettes all three are sealed in one unit. On the SNAPS REV5 the battery recharges and the cartridges swap out.

Size, draw and simplicity.A cigalike is cigarette-sized and draw-activated - you inhale and it fires, with no button. The draw is tight, similar to a cigarette, which is what mouth-to-lung smokers are used to. There is nothing to set up and nothing to adjust.
A pod vape is larger, usually has a button or a screen, holds more e-liquid, and often produces more vapour. It costs less per millilitre over time and gives you more flavour choice, but it is a different object in the hand and a different draw.
Neither is better. The question is what you want the device to feel like. If the familiarity of a cigarette matters to you, the cigalike is the format built for that. If you want longer battery life and more capacity between refills, look at our XPOD vape pods.

The trade-off is straightforward. Disposables cost less upfront and need no maintenance. A rechargeable kit costs more to start but is cheaper over months, since you are only replacing cartridges rather than the whole device. Ordering direct means the stock comes from the manufacturer rather than through a distribution chain, which matters for cartridge and spare-part availability - the parts stay supplied because we make them.Two things worth knowing about buying vaping products online in Canada:
- Age verification is required. Your first order ships via Canada Post with adult signature verification. Canada Post asks the named recipient for ID on delivery. If nobody is available, a card is left and you collect from your local post office.
- Excise stamps are mandatory. Every legal vaping product sold in Canada carries a physical excise stamp, and the correct stamp depends on your province. If a product arrives unstamped, the duty has not been paid on it.

Once you are set up, the ongoing costs are replacement cartridges and, occasionally, a spare battery - batteries run $12.95 to $14.95, and the TRIO USB charger is $24.95 if you want to charge three at once.
A starter kit costs more than a single disposable but less than buying the components separately, and it is the cheaper route if you expect to keep using the format.

ePuffer designs its own devices and has them produced under ISO 13485 quality management standards - the standard used for medical devices, which covers process control, traceability and batch consistency. That is the practical difference between a device from an established brand and a generic one from an unregulated factory: not where it was assembled, but what quality system governed the assembly.All rechargeable ePuffer products carry a one-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects.
